Figure's only contribution to electronic music that we know of is found here in the Maintenance EP. Figure, claiming to be a robot designed to analyze rock specimens, found us on the Internet one day and presented four tracks that we found very interesting. The sound can be summarized as unusual, raw and mechanical techno with a heavy dose of twisted Speak n' Spell manipulations, found sounds and otherwise untraditional sound sources. Circuit Override is the gem of the EP, with strange loops and arrangements, a dark factory atmosphere and just the right amount of clicks and odd samples. Liquid No.3 is hard and relentless, with an even more chaotic arrangement of samples and an equally dark vibe. Access Denied!!!, created in honor of Microsoft's security warnings, keeps the tempo strong with a very blatant rimshot and more wonderful loops and sounds. The EP ends with Program 35: Execute. We are treated to Speak n' Spell creations from hell, relentless drums and tasty mechanical synths. Although this music is not really aimed at the standard club crowd, it is nonetheless foot-stomping, head-bangin and extremely weird stuff that we simply had to put on Heavy Industries. We hope you enjoy.
