Name: Nick Damico Location: Los Angeles, CA, USA
Nick Damico discovered dance culture after being immersed in industrial music for several years. Seeking a less chaotic side to this scene, he eventually found a home with techno and electro via the early 90s Midwest rave scene. Nick started as an intelligent lighting artist in Cincinnati and traveled to cities including St. Louis, Chicago, Philadelphia and Nashville. Through these travels he got a taste of true warehouse parties at their peak.
In 1993 Nick got his first pair of decks. Influenced by artists such as Richard Kirk, Orbital and Sven Väth, Nick began spinning a mixture of ambient and techno. Nick’s industrial roots drew him towards percussive and rhythmic dance music which explains his love for tribal techno, tech house and electro. In addition to DJ’ing, Nick started a career in visual effects that took him to New York in 96.
After several years of underground involvement, including DJing at Dumbo parties in Brooklyn, Nick relocated to LA and began working for Nice Fred at his record shop, This Is Music. Experiencing a creative void as a 3D artist he started building a recording studio to channel his energy into music production. Nick's tracks return to the abstraction of both his early visual art and the music that first inspired him. Look for future productions and DJ mixes with Heavy Industries in 2007 and 2008. |
